HAPPY NEW YEAR

President Leslie Adams asked for volunteers to share past Christmas experiences.  It was wonderful listening to their stories. All were full of joy and happy endings to the day.

Our December 13th meeting met with an announcement from Past President Rick Lierman on the upcoming Rotary Ski Day which is January 3rd.  If you haven't already signed up be sure to contact Rick.  December was a busy month with the Food Bank, Bell Ringing, Wreaths Across American and a notice of a date will be set in March to visit Marvin Piccolo School to celebrate the giving of a swamp cooler (donated by Western Nevada Supply) ramp and winch to lift the students to  ride the horses, computers and more.  Our Club along with the Knights of Columbus and a Foundation grant made all of this possible.  Many thanks to Past President Chip Lindloff for organizing this project.

We all enjoyed the presentation to Past President Chip Lindloff of his Paul Harris Plus 5 pin.  This truly represents a dedicated Rotarian.

The speaker for the evening was Auburn Harris from the Communities for School in Western Nevada.  This organization helps students that would probably not make it to graduation without their help.

Do you think Past President Dave Zybert thought if he stared at the white marble long enough it would turn red?  No such luck but a dinner on the house is always appreciated.

Our December 20th meeting started with a request from International Chair Ken Petring. Jean Irwin, a previous member of our Club is joining with other Rotary Clubs for a International project in Guatemala to detect hearing loss at a early age in children.  Jean gave a generous contribution to our Club for the Belize project. This is a good time to repay the favor.  By the end of our meeting Ken had received $900.00 toward this project.  To learn more contact him.

OMG!!!!! Our speaker  was Isabelle Rodriguez, President and CEO of the Nevada Women's Fund.  If you every wanted to know where four of our Past US Presidents were she knew as their schedule was arranged by her.  If you did not hear her presentation please ask other members about it.  The Women's Fund through donations and fund raising provide large scholarships for women to complete their education and more.  Many women for various reasons had to interrupt their education and now with the Funds assistance are able to continue.

The evening ended with Past President Mark Schauss drawing the white marble.  Do you think the red one is weighted like dice can be?

On January 17th we will hold our Don't Return It Auction.  This can be a double win.  Bid on items which will be income for the Club then donate it as your raffle item for our Shamrock Shindig.  We are requesting each member donate a bottle of wine for the wine wagon and a item with a $25.00 value or cash so the committee can purchase an item.  I will need these items by the end of February to assemble the raffle baskets.  Soon I will put a suggestion list on the tables in case you are stumped.  Remember any new item or gift certificate can be used.

Have a great New Years weekend.
