One of our charter members was past-president Carol Eastwick, who left our club when her husband, Jack, retired and they wanted to travel.  Carol always used to call me “the Charter Daddy”, so that moniker stuck.

One night some 8-9 years ago, Larie Trippet mentioned a fund at his former club in Incline Village called the “Gino Fund” (I think), that was funded by a member in that club.  The Gino Fund was started to answer the call of some small needs in the community that could easier be taken of through a small fund like that, rather the through the protocol of the Rotary Board of Directors, etc.  I thought this was a great idea, so in concert with my wife Gini, we established the Charter Daddy Fund.  Every July we give $1,000 to the Charter Daddy Fund and during the course of the year members are so generous as they give to the Charter Daddy Fund as well.  The intent of the fund is to help people in the community if they have small needs…i.e. need their power paid in any given month, etc.  We have done a bit of that but have also taken care of other events in the club, i.e. the Dragon Boat Racing, etc.  If you have someone who is struggling and needs some temporary help, please let President Ken know.  The Charter Daddy Fund expenditures are decided between the current president and me with no fanfare, etc.  I am so proud of the Charter Daddy Fund and what we do.  Thank you all for helping!
