For the third year, an event focusing on raising funds for dogs and Veterans is taking place on September 29, 2019.  Dogs of Reno will be held at the Snowflake Pavilion in Idlewild Park from 11 am – 4 pm.  All proceeds from this event will go to Canines With a Cause, an organization that rescues dogs suitable for service dog training and pairs them with disable Veterans.

Canines With A Cause rescues a dog, helps a Veteran and gives hope to an incarcerated Veteran through this unique service dog program.  Canines With a Cause finds and rescues suitable dogs that can be trained as service dogs and sends them to Warm Springs Correctional Center in Carson City.  There, incarcerated Veterans begins basic training with the dog that now resides in their cell.  After a couple of months, the dogs go to Reno where they meet prospective new disabled Veterans who will choose the dog that is the best fit for them.  The newly paired service team will continue their training for as long as it takes to ensure that the dog and Veteran are ready to go out into the world where the dog helps the Veteran and the Veteran finds their life enhanced through the new help and support of their service dog.

Dogs of Reno is an event where various dog-related businesses, rescue groups, dog demos and presentations come together for a day of sharing information on rescue dogs and Veteran issues with the public.  Bring your kids and your dog(s) to enjoy the day.  The cost to get in is only $5 with children under 6 free.  And there will be a band and food trucks to make the day complete.

The important thing is that Canines With a Cause is providing support and help to Veterans who leave the service with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and/or Traumatic Brain Injuries.  All of the proceeds will go to Canines With a Cause.
