FIRST BOARD MEETING AND AWARDS
Posted by Carol Hannigan on Jul 20, 2016
President Leslie Adams held her first Board meeting Tuesday. We had a good
agenda with reports from the committee chairs. The attendance was large. Some
dates up coming are the Food Bank on August 6th, Reno Aces game August 28th,
Rotary Means Business October 4th, UNR Football October 8th and our Christmas
Party most likely December 6th. More events will be in between like our District
Governors official visit.
President Leslie handed out award certificates for perfect attendance for the year
2015-2016. The Club donated 100 points to their Paul Harris for Joe Musser,
Claire Collins, Scott Maylath, Carol Hannigan, Chip Lindloff, Chesa Keane, Leslie Adams, and Dave Zybert.
We had lots of Bell Ringing and a Shameless Plug from our new member
Tisa Horne. Tish has started her own business, Teachable Moments 101, a guided
preschool for your little one. Tish is well on her way to attain her Blue Badge.
Member Courtney Pino brought us two guests. Left is Kirk Allaire from
Gratis Payment Processing and right is Gabe Somoza from the
Rotaract Club. Kirk is visiting Rotary Clubs in our area to see what
we are all about. Courtney also announced the way has been cleared for
our Club to take over the Purple Pinkie Run next year that will probably take place in April of 2017. She will be making plans soon along with Fund Raising Chair, Past President Mark Schauss.
Our Fun Chair, Lynn Johnson gave us more information on the Midtown Walk next Tuesday. The tour is full, way to go Lynn.
Our Procational Talk was presented by Bridget Brundige. Born in Tahoe City,
on to college in Washington with a major in Finance. Bridget is employed
by LP Insurance. She loves all sorts of sports and was also presented with
her Blue Badge. Bridget only joined us in March of this year so I would
call that getting right to it.
Our speaker for the evening was Josh Reimer. Josh is the Director of Operations at
Grand Rounds. He explained some of the advances in health care technology. One of
the examples, when a company sends an employee to them they get evaluated by a panel of Doctors to
determine which expert be recommended for their situation. This will save the employee hours
of traveling from Doctor to Doctor along with the employers insurance. A win win for both.
Our member Claire Collins is an employee of Grand Rounds and has much information so
please ask her. Our Rotary Means Business will be held at their place of business.
We all know what time it is now. Have you ever seen such a serious
digger? Past President Shelley Johnson will enjoy a free dinner for
drawing the white marble.
Be sure to check our web site for upcoming dates that we are either
doing off site or Dark. We don't want you to be the only one here
eating dinner alone.
