On March 22nd Briggitte Kidd was inducted as our member. Sponsor Chesa Keane and President Duane Upton had the pleasure of presenting at our off site visit to the Solace Tree. Our members enjoyed examining the books and materials provided by our club along with a matching grant.
And who is getting pined here? Why our newest member Ricardo Villacorta by his sponsor Courtney Pino. Be sure to congratulate Ricardo, Brigitte and again Bridget Brundige who was inducted earlier in the month.
Our percational talk was provided by Claire Collins. If you want to really know about our members this is a great way to hear their life and career story.
Our speaker was Matthew Platshorn. Matthew is the Executive Director for the Prison Recovery Network in Nevada. This is a great program to prepare prisoners to re-enter society and never return to prison life again. The councilors start right from the day they are sentenced to head them in the right direction.
We had many announcements. The pre-bag date is before our meeting on the 19th of April at 5:00 to load the bags for the Purple Pinkie Run. You will be hearing from Courtney Pino with details. Mark Leiser made a request for volunteers to work the House of Friendship at our District Conference in May. Leslie reminded us of the upcoming Leadership Assembly on April 9th at the Atlantis. Those who wish to attend need to sign up through the District web site. Past President Dave Zybert let us know this weekend will be the final performances of his produced play To Kill A Mockingbird. You will see several of our members play the roles. We had three guests from other clubs either doing a make up or in one case may be transferring to us as his job and residence has moved south near the Tamarack. I think I see in the back ground of the picture of Duane and Matthew fellow Rotarian Jim Annis checking is return flight to Palm Springs or maybe Augusta, Georgia for the Masters. I think he may have gotten a fine or got off first by ringing the bell.
O.K. let's not make this a habit!!! A free dinner always is appreciated. Remember next week we will meet in the Steak House as our usual room is taken by the customer appreciation party for the Tamarack. Maybe if we crash the party they won't bump us next year?
