What I believe is one of Rotary's best kept secrets...
Rotary Fellowships
By Past President Larie Trippet
I think Rotary Fellowships are one of the best kept secrets in Rotary.
What are they? Fellowships are groups of Rotarians, Rotaractors, and non-Rotarians who share a common passion. They come together to enjoy the fellowship based on their common passion. These groups are separate from Rotary and operate independently. Rotary encourages them but does not support them with any funding or administrative help.
3 personal examples:
- I am now the President of the International Fellowship of Motorcycling Rotarians – North American chapter. We have about 200 members in USA, Canada and Mexico. Each region plans and organizes motorcycle rides, some for 1 day, others for multiple days. When I have traveled overseas, I have succeeded in “putting the word out” that I was coming to a certain area and met several locals who have ridden with me (and Katie). A great way to meet new friends and get some local recommendations. We will be having motorcycle rides from all over North America going to the RI convention in Houston in 2022. International travelers will likely be joining us.
- I am also a member of BREW – Beer Rotarians Enjoy Worldwide. Whereas the motorcyclists have chapters based on country/territory, the BREW fellowship is worldwide. We have had several worldwide Zoom meetings to celebrate various beer events, such as Oktoberfest. We have several members in the Reno area.
- I am also a member of RVFRNA – Recreational Vehicle Fellowship of Rotarians North America. I joined when I was at the convention in Toronto in 2018. However, I have not yet attended a Rally. These events are organized as multi-day RV camping events and are held regionally. I hope to attend one in California in late October.

So, what are you waiting for??? Check it out and enjoy YOUR passion with others; expand your circle of friends who also enjoy your passion. As you can see from my experiences you can be as involved as you choose (President of IFMR-NA to not attended a RV rally yet)
Feel free to ask me any questions you might have!
